RPNAS is pleased to present our updated bylaws, which reflect recent legislative changes and enhance our regulatory framework. Here are some highlights of the key changes that were made:
- Council Appointments: Bylaws now allow for the appointment of members to the RPNAS Council, rather than requiring election.
- Bylaw Approval: Membership is no longer eligible to approve bylaws, aligning with new legislative requirements.
- Title Changes: The positions of President and President-Elect have been updated to Chair and Vice-Chair to better reflect our regulatory framework.
- Practice Hours Requirements: RPNAS has implemented an alternate measure of eligible practice hours, allowing for at least 560 hours of practice within the 2-year period preceding licensure application/renewal.
- Supervised Practice Experience: A supervised practice experience has been introduced as a pathway to establish licensure eligibility.
- Licensure Exam: Candidates who do not pass the national licensure exam will now have the option to complete a re-entry program, allowing for three additional attempts to pass the RPNCE.
- Professional Conduct Committee Updates: Changes have been made to the bylaws governing the Professional Conduct Committee to align with recent legislative updates.
These updates are vital to maintaining our commitment to excellence in psychiatric nursing practice and ensuring compliance with current regulations.
